Monaco: official start for E-Gazelle Vinci Immobilier Class
RALLYE AÏCHA DES GAZELLES 2021
Nice | Official start
What better place than the square in front of the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco, an iconic location, for a rally that has also become iconic.
Monaco – Oceanographic Museum, official start for the electric vehicles.
Created in 2017, the Rallye des Gazelles electric vehicle category was a first in the world of rally-raids. This year, 12 electric vehicles are taking part including 3 buggies, prototypes, Renault Zoés and Citroën e-Méharis.
On the start podium in Monaco, Dominique Serra presented a magnificent bouquet of Delbard roses to His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco. The rose’s creator, third generation rose breeder Arnaud Delbard from Pépinière et Roseraie Gorges Delbard, attended the event in person. The rose, called the Rallye des Gazelles, was created in honour of this 30th edition.
In addition to its unique pink-orange colour and intense fragrance, this rose is notable for its large, full blooms measuring 7 to 8 cm in diameter. After being unveiled before the event, the rose will be officially christened at the Gala evening on October 2 in Essaouira and will accompany the Gazelles throughout the rally.
Following the presentation of the hydrogen buggy that will take part in the 31st edition next March, Prince Albert II of Monaco expressed his best wishes for the rally and its participants, who were delighted to be able to speak to His Serene Highness in person.
Hosting the official start for the electric vehicle class is a natural step for the Principality of Monaco, which is committed to protecting the planet. The Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation is involved in initiatives to reduce the effects of climate change, promote renewable energies, preserve biodiversity, manage water resources and fight desertification. The foundation supports projects in three main geographic areas: the Mediterranean Basin, the Polar Regions, and the Least Developed Countries.
A second sponsor of the electric vehicle class, but no less important, is Vinci Immobilier, whose objectives include reducing the environmental footprint by supporting their clients in their ecological transition. Vinci Immobilier’s environmental actions cover three areas: acting for the climate and reducing CO2 emissions, optimizing resources through a circular economy, and preserving natural resources and environments.
Finally, ENGIE has partnered with the Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles du Maroc to help play a leading role in offering cleaner transportation options and to raise public awareness.
