A strategic choice
DAR KAOUA - DAR KAOUA
Leg 2
It is 5 o’clock and the bivouac is waking up. The strain of yesterday’s challenges can be seen in some faces this morning. The Gazelles are slowly realizing that the much-awaited day is finally here: the dunes of Erg Chebbi. There is a sense of nervousness in the air: it’s going to be hot (forecast high of 38°) and there will be some wind. The sand will soften quickly.
Briefing – Friday September 24
Today the Gazelles must choose between 3 different routes: Route X (very challenging), Route Y (intermediate) and Route Z (the most accessible).
Teams who choose Route X must do so from the start. As Routes Y and Z share their first two checkpoints, teams can decide once they reach CP2.
As soon as they commit to a route, they can no longer change their mind.
Exceptionally, teams are allowed to follow each other while driving through the dunes.
Once they leave the dunes, they will have to re-inflate their tires and continue alone.
They are here to push their limits, but above all for the pleasure, pleasure and more pleasure!
